Drawing inspiration from Y2K aesthetics and trending community interests, ZBD focused on creating content that appealed to a wide audience. Embracing community-driven content and trending topics, ZBD promoted the app in an authentic and relatable manner. These strategies proved highly effective in increasing overall engagement and expanding the brand's reach.

Context

ZEBEDEE (ZBD) is a digital payment processor dedicated to integrating Bitcoin and Lightning support into digital ecosystems. Their mission is to streamline bitcoin transactions for players within games while also fostering bitcoin adoption in the gaming industry. Additionally, ZBD's social application seamlessly integrates with the Nostr protocol, allowing users access to ZBD applications across various Nostr-compatible platforms. With a focus on enabling users to earn bitcoin through gaming and content creation, ZBD contributes to innovation in social and gaming sectors, leveraging Bitcoin's potential to shape the emerging digital economy.

Challenges

Some crypto brands rely on extravagant claims, promises of huge returns, and flashy advertising tactics to attract investors and users. This approach to marketing can sometimes contribute to skepticism and distrust among the general public.

Audience

Traditionally, the crypto audience skews towards young males. However, ZBD is committed to crafting content that transcends demographic boundaries, fostering inclusivity and accessibility across diverse communities.

Platforms

While ZBD maintained a presence across multiple platforms, not all were equally effective in reaching the desired audience.

With Zebedee, I aimed to craft a social media presence that embodied versatility, drew inspiration from the Y2K era, maintained a youthful and vibrant vibe, all while avoiding the stereotypical image associated with crypto companies.

  1. The incorporation of ASCII art into posts as a means to evoke an old-school aesthetic and inject a sense of fun into the content. This aligns with the brand's new design direction, enhancing the overall visual appeal and potentially engaging the audience in a unique manner.
  2. Develop engaging content that would foster community interaction and participation. This involved staying abreast of trends and generating reactive content that resonated with the community's interests and preferences.
  3. Ensuring consistency across platforms, the social media voice was extended to encompass app notifications. This approach aimed to maintain uniformity in tone and messaging, providing users with a cohesive experience regardless of the platform they interacted with.
  4. Prioritizing platforms that resonated with the target audience simplified the strategy while effectively maintaining an engaged audience where they were most likely to frequent.

The ZBD community was quick to embrace the shift in voice. They particularly appreciated posts that went beyond crypto or gaming topics, instead allowing them to showcase their individuality, like sharing photos of their beloved pets. Content that merged meme formats with insights into the benefits of the ZBD app resonated strongly, effectively promoting the app while maintaining an authentic connection with the audience.
